Shield and Valor Foundation provides structured outdoor experiences that support the mental health, resilience, and recovery of veterans and first responders.
Our focus is simple, create the right environment at the right time to help people reset, reconnect, and move forward.

Early Intervention Support

We believe support should not wait until the end of a career.
Some of the most important moments come immediately after a critical incident or high-stress experience.

Our goal is to step in during those windows, offering space away from the job where individuals can decompress, process, and not feel like they have to carry it alone.

This early support helps reduce long-term impact and builds resilience over time.

Outdoor-Based Experiences

The outdoors is at the center of everything we do.
We create opportunities for participants to step out of their normal environment and into settings that naturally promote calm, clarity, and connection.
Experiences may include:

  • Hunting trips

  • Fishing outings

  • Hiking and wilderness retreats

  • Small group outdoor events

These experiences are intentionally designed to be grounded, practical, and meaningful.

Connection Through Shared Experience

One of the most powerful parts of this work is connection.
Participants are surrounded by others who understand the realities of service, creating an environment where trust forms naturally.

These shared experiences often lead to real conversations, mutual support, and a sense of belonging that many people are missing.

Integrated Mental Health Support

While the outdoors is the foundation, we recognize the importance of professional support.

We aim to partner with licensed mental health professionals who understand the culture of service.

Their role is not to make the experience clinical, but to be available in a way that feels natural, supportive, and accessible when it’s needed.

Built for Real Life

Our programs are designed to meet people where they are.
Whether someone is actively serving, recently experienced a critical incident, or navigating life after service, we focus on providing practical, accessible support that fits into real life.
This is not about one-time moments, it’s about building a path toward long-term strength, connection, and purpose.
